Recorded in Hale’s mobile command post on the morning of the incident. The officer being briefed is the one the Consortium’s campaign puts you in the seat of. Varga’s address to the Division, recorded the same week, is a separate entry.
Hale, on the Division’s channel.- Hale
- Commander. Hale.
- Hale
- Impact Field Forty-One. Our salvage team has worked it under the Accord for six weeks.
- Hale
- This morning a League crew moved onto the same field. Armed. They have cut into our survey line.
- Hale
- Your orders: escort our team to the field, keep the drones cutting, keep the League out of the cut.
- Hale
- Your squad carries live rounds. You do not fire first.
- Hale
- If they fire, you fire back. Hale out.
Later that morning, on the channel
- Hale
- Team is on site. Drones are cutting. Hold your perimeter.
- Hale
- They are getting close, Commander. Hold. Do not give them a reason.
- Hale
- Shots fired! Who fired? Doesn’t matter. Drones are engaging. Weapons free.
- Hale
- Get the team out. Fall back to the evac point.
- Hale
- Team is out. Four drones lost. The League is calling it a massacre. That is not your concern, Commander. Good work.
Note
Hale asks who fired and then says it does not matter. On the Consortium’s own record, nobody has answered the question since.
